TradeRisk supports organisations with complex questions on due diligence, sanctions, export controls, dual-use and defence & strategic trade.
We bring together the customer, UBO structure, goods, technology, end use, destination and transaction risk in a single, well-founded assessment.
About TradeRisk
TradeRisk was born out of a genuine passion for compliance and sanctions regulation — the conviction that international trade only works well when an organisation knows exactly who it is doing business with, what it exports and where it ultimately ends up.
International trade brings opportunities, but also complexity. A transaction can be commercially attractive while at the same time raising questions about the customer, ownership structure, sanctions, export restrictions or the ultimate use of the goods.
TradeRisk helps organisations assess these questions in a structured, risk-based way.
Expertise built in practice
More than ten years of experience in audit, CDD, AML, sanctions and international compliance
TradeRisk is built on specialised hands-on experience in customer due diligence, complex corporate and ownership structures and compliance questions in international trade.
This expertise was developed in both accountancy and banking: four years at KPMG and seven years at Rabobank, with specialised work in CDD, sanctions, AML, dual-use goods and defence-related companies.
This combination means a compliance question is not only viewed from the perspective of laws and regulations. We also consider how a case is likely to be viewed in practice by banks, auditors, compliance functions and other relevant stakeholders.
From that foundation, TradeRisk has grown into a team of five compliance and risk professionals.

- A new customer, supplier or distributor requires additional due diligence.
- The UBO or ownership structure is complex or insufficiently transparent.
- A transaction involves an elevated country or sanctions risk.
- There is doubt about the classification of goods or technology.
- Dual-use or export control may be involved.
- The identity of the end user or the ultimate use is insufficiently clear.
- The organisation is going to supply defence, aerospace or another sensitive sector.
- A bank, customer or other stakeholder is asking additional compliance questions.
